Sponsor your parents and grandparents for permanent residence in Canada. PGP program operates through annual lottery system.
Who is this program for
This program targets Canadian citizens and permanent residents 18 years or older who wish to bring their biological parents, adoptive parents, or grandparents to Canada permanently. The sponsor must have sufficient income and can co-sign with their spouse/partner to reach the required income threshold.
Main criteria
Process steps
1. Submit interest to sponsor form
When the program opens, submit your interest to sponsor in the IRCC portal. Invitations are sent through a lottery.
2. Receive Invitation to Apply (ITA)
If selected, you receive an ITA and have 60 days to submit a complete application.
3. Gather documents and income proof
Prepare Notices of Assessment (NOA) for the last 3 years, identity documents, proof of family relationship, etc.
4. Submit complete application
Submit the sponsorship application and parents/grandparents' PR application with all required documents.
5. Medical exam and biometrics
Parents/grandparents complete a medical exam and provide biometrics.
6. Final decision
If approved, parents/grandparents receive their CoPR and immigrant visa to come to Canada.
