Quebec Acceptance Certificate (CAQ) for Studies
The Quebec Acceptance Certificate (CAQ) for studies is a mandatory document issued by the Ministry of Immigration, Francization and Integration (MIFI) for most international students wishing to study in Quebec for more than 6 months. The CAQ must be obtained BEFORE applying for a study permit from IRCC. It confirms that Quebec accepts your study project and is valid for the duration of your program plus 30 days. The CAQ is a crucial step to study in Quebec and can open the path to permanent residence through the Quebec Experience Program (PEQ).
Who is this program for
The CAQ is required for international students admitted to a designated learning institution (DLI) in Quebec for a program longer than 6 months. This includes university students (bachelor's, master's, doctorate), college students (DEC, AEC), vocational training students (DEP), and exchange students for more than 6 months. Some exemptions exist for diplomats, members of the Canadian Armed Forces, and their families.
