The Agri-Food Pilot provides a pathway to permanent residence for experienced workers in certain Canadian agri-food industries and occupations. This program aims to address labor shortages in meat processing, mushroom production, greenhouse production, and livestock raising sectors. Candidates must have eligible Canadian work experience and a full-time, non-seasonal job offer.
Who is this program for
Workers with experience in the Canadian agri-food industry, including butchers, meat processing plant workers, farm workers in greenhouses or mushroom production, and livestock workers.
Main criteria
Process steps
1. Verify industry and occupation eligibility
Confirm your occupation and industry are eligible for the program (meat processing, mushrooms, greenhouses, livestock).
2. Accumulate required Canadian work experience
Work in Canada in an eligible occupation for at least 12 months full-time (or equivalent).
3. Obtain an eligible job offer
Get a full-time, non-seasonal job offer from a Canadian employer in an eligible industry.
4. Take language tests
Obtain a score of at least CLB 4 in an approved language test (IELTS, CELPIP, TEF, TCF).
5. Submit permanent residence application
Submit your PR application to IRCC with all required documents.
