Who is this program for
The ICT targets senior executives who lead the company or a major department, managers who supervise other employees or manage an essential function, and employees with specialized knowledge unique to the company's products, services, processes, or procedures. Candidates must have been employed by a foreign affiliate of the Canadian company for at least one year within the last three years. This program is ideal for multinationals wishing to establish or strengthen their presence in Canada.

Process steps
1. Employer submits offer on Portal
The Canadian employer submits the transfer details through the IRCC Employer Portal, pays the $230 compliance fee, and obtains a job offer number.
2. Prepare supporting documents
Gather evidence of the relationship between companies, employment letter confirming position and experience, proof of specialized knowledge (if applicable).
3. Submit work permit application
Submit your work permit application online by selecting the ICT exemption. Include the job offer number and all required documents.
4. Biometrics
Provide your biometrics at a designated collection point if required.
5. Receive work permit
If approved, you receive your work permit allowing you to work for the Canadian company. Maximum duration varies by category.
